Community Activities


Since its inception in 1983, the Fort Mill Downtown Association has been instrumental in many projects over the years to revitalize the quaint downtown image. The Association has functioned as a liason between the merchants and Town Council, the Police Department, the Chamber of Commerce, and other civic and governmental organizations.

Increased awareness of our downtown businesses has been promoted with brochures about the Association given out at the South Carolina Welcome Centers, real estate offices, and other businesses.

The news media has been appraised on a regular basis about the goals, issues, upcoming activities and successful projects.

The annual Fall Festival features Trick or Treating on Main Street for local children, as well as an opportunity to help other children's organizations.

During the Christmas season, the Fort Mill Downtown Association has sponsored a Coloring Contest for children, Christmas caroling, and a gift basket distributed through the Fort Mill Care Center.

A golf tournament sponsored by the Fort Mill Downtown Association provided a $4300 donation to Tri-County Sister Help. The Learning Center, located at the Fort Mill Housing Authority, received donated computer equipment collected and refurbished by the Fort Mill Downtown Association.

   The Fort Mill Downtown Association also organized a fund drive to    purchase bullet-proof vests for the Fort Mill Police Department.
