Fort Mill Downtown Association -- Moving Forward
Move Fort Mill Forward, Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 2004 by community volunteers to help
improve the look, feel, and experience of the Fort Mill historic downtown area. Since the beginning of Move Fort
Mill Forward (MFMF), and establishment of its initial goals, the face of our town has continued to change due
mainly to the immense growth in the Fort Mill Township!
As change continues in Fort Mill, so does the focus of Move Fort Mill Forward. By the end of 2007, Move Fort Mill
Forward and the Fort Mill Downtown Association (from which MFMF originated), merged into one entity.
These two organizations have come together, merged talents and goals, and will move into the future a much
stronger organization with a broader area of interest. We will continue to maintain a strong focus on our
historic downtown but our overall vision will be to create and develop a strong working relationship between our
community, retailers, local government, future investors, and the “next workforce generation.”
Mission:
The primary mission of Move Fort Mill Forward is to help stimulate economic growth and development while making
the downtown area the heart of Fort Mill once again.
This mission can be accomplished by strengthening our voice and unfolding the vision by reaching outward.
Fort Mill, South Carolina is an “authentic” experience – full of life and history! By working in partnership
with the Fort Mill Town Council, the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce, and business leaders within and
around our community we can expect to become the destination that will be sought after for years to come!

Goals
- Build a mutually supportive structure within Fort Mill property owners, business owners, citizens, and Town
Council, with the intent to further the interests of all businesses.
- Create a positive, unique downtown public identity – a symbol for progress – while preserving our rich history.
- Create strong leadership to ensure ongoing economic success of the entire Fort Mill Township.
